We lead or support negotiations with federal, territorial, and institutional partners. We advise on devolution, reconciliation, and governance transitions. We structure long-term retainers rooted in shared stewardship and non-dilution of Indigenous equity

We design Indigenous equity models that protect legacy and unlock long-term value. We position strategic assets for acquisition, conversion, or negotiation. We benchmark governance and compensation for infrastructure partnerships

Founder and President of Arctic Strategies Inc.

Pj Akeeagok is a respected Indigenous leader in governance, infrastructure, and policy transformation. As former Premier of Nunavut, Cabinet Minister, and national Inuit representative, he led historic negotiations on devolution, reconciliation, and infrastructure equity, securing the largest land transfer in Canadian history and unlocking transformative federal investments.


His career spans territorial, national, and institutional leadership, always grounded in Inuit self determination, legacy stewardship, and strategic delivery. Through Arctic Strategies, he continues to advance Indigenous led nation building with clarity, credibility, and long term impact.

Accomplishments and Milestones:

Governance and Devolution

  • Concluded the Nunavut Devolution Agreement, the largest land transfer in Canadian history — over 2 million square kilometres, representing 20 percent of Canada’s landmass.
  • Secured the $1.5B Nunavut Agreement Implementation Contract, ensuring long term funding and operational clarity for Inuit rights and governance.

Arctic Policy and Diplomacy

  • Helped shape Canada’s updated Arctic Foreign Policy, affirming Inuit leadership in diplomacy, resilience, and security.
  • Signed a historic MOU with Greenland, advancing Inuit collaboration across borders and strengthening Arctic diplomacy.
  • Released the Arctic Sovereignty and Security Strategy with Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, asserting Inuit led priorities in Canada’s Arctic.

Nation Building Infrastructure

  • Advanced four Indigenous led projects: the Arctic Economic and Security Corridor, Iqaluit Hydro, Qikiqtarjuaq Deep Sea Port, and Kivalliq Hydro Fibre Link.
  • Secured $40M in federal funding for the Qikiqtarjuaq Deep Sea Port.
  • Secured $26M in federal funding for the Iqaluit Hydro Project, now listed with Canada’s Major Projects Office.
  • Signed a historic MOU with Manitoba to advance the Kivalliq Hydro Fibre Link.

Social Investment and Equity

  • Secured Nunavut’s entry into the $10 a day National Child Care Agreement, with $109M in federal funding through 2031.
  • Launched the Nunavut 3,000 Housing Initiative, including a federal commitment for 700 new homes under Canada Build.
  • Established the Inuit Legacy Fund, a long term instrument supporting reconciliation and generational leadership.

Education and Training

  • As President of Qikiqtani Inuit Association, secured a $255.5M settlement with NTI, creating the Makigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation.
  • Secured $25M to launch Q STEP, investing in Inuit training, skills development, and workforce readiness

Conservation and Stewardship

  • Co led the Tallurutiup Imanga Agreement, creating Canada’s largest marine conservation area with Inuit co governance.
  • Secured a federal apology for Qikiqtani colonial harms, with recognition and investment to address injustices from 1950–1975.
